Q1. Who was doctor sadao? Where was his house?
Ans. Doctor sadao was a famous Japanese surgeon and scientists. He was researching on to make the wounds entirely clean. His house was located next to the narrow beach. The was outlined with flowers. Little uninhabited island also existed near his house.
Q2. Why did Dr sadao help in the escape of the American soldier? was it an act of unpatriotic? can you justify his action?
Ans. Doctor Sardar did not like white people but still he gave shelter to the wounded enemy he arranged for his escape. as the young American has been healthy he would have handed him over to the police but there was bleeding and dying man and he was a doctor and was trained to save even a dying enemy therefore he helped him to escape.
Q3. Why was doctor sadao and not sent abroad with the Japanese Troops?
Ans. Doctor sadao was a famous surgeon and scientist. He had mastered the art of healing wounds. The old general of Japan have full faith in his ability as a doctor. He did not believe on any other doctor. He was not keeping good health and require operation any moment so sadao was not sent abroad with troops. Old General of Japan think of his treatment only he was selfish and self centred.

Doctor sadao and his wife were standing outside their house they saw someone flung by the waves of the sea. they went closer and saw that he was an American soldier the first thought of throwing him back into the sea but the compassionate nature could not allow them to throw the wounded person into the sea.
So they decided to take him in the house and treate his wound first and then hand him over to the police. Dr. Sadao operated upon the wounded man and brought out the bullet from the wound. He gave him an injection to boost the pulse rate
Q6. How was hana helpful to dr. Sadao in operation upon the wounded soldier?
Ans. Hana was very helpful while the operation was on. She dipped a small clean towel into the streaming hot water and washed his face. She was requested to give the anaesthetic if needed. They serve the soldier even after the servent left the house as he was from enemy country.
Q7. How did dr. Sadao help the American soldier to escape?
Ans. When soldier was fully recovered from illness Dr sadao sent him back to sea to an unguarded island. told him to stay on the island and waiting for a Korean fishing boat he advised him not to burn any fire for fear of being caught. he gave him his flashlights and told to signed to flash in case of short food or still he was on his island atlast he helped the soldier to escape.

Ans. When the servants hear that master was sheltering an enemy they were horrified yumi declared that she would not wash him So hana had to do it herself. they felt it was disloyalty to the country the cook said her master was so proud of his own abilities that he was healing a life even the old gardener disapproves of sadao's action. one by one they all left the house.

Ans. Father was an ambitious person. his father had great expectation from his son he wanted to see him successful persons. Sadao education was the main concern of his father. his father send him to America to study. he was ambitious about about sadao's future as well as about Japan' future.

Ans. The general was very powerful person in Japan. He was very close to dr. Sadao. He had full faith in his abilities as doctor. He did not believe any other doctor. Sadao told the general for giving shelter to the enemy. General promised to get the soldier killed secretly but he failed in his promise. He couldn't take any action. He forgot to send his assassins. Hence, the general was selfish and just think of his treatment only.
Q11. Do you think the doctor 's final solution of the problem was the best possible one in the circumstances?
Ans. Sadao told the general for giving shelter to the enemy. General promised to get the soldier killed secretly but he failed in his promise. He couldn't take any action. He forgot to send his assassins.
So sadao decided to take the matter into his own hands he sent the soldier to an unguarded island.
And help him to escape.
This was best solution because it became very dangerous for sadao to continue housing a American soldier who was improving day by day.
As all the servants had left the house, they could have reported the matter to the authorities who would have taken strict action against sadao.
Q12. Dr. Sadao was a patriotic Japanese as well as a dedicated surgeon. How could he honour both values?

But his patriotism cannot be doubted he wrote a report to the police and told the general about the American prisoner and even was agreed with him when general offered to have the man killed by his private assassins. But general couldn't take any action. So sadao helped him to escape. Thus he honoured both values of being a true Japanese and dedicated doctor.
